BC004

BC004 — QUICK USER GUIDE

1. PURPOSE

BC004 calculates V2 at D2 from V1, D1 and a known BC, as in BC002. It also analyses a Kill Zone (KZ) and the maximum point-blank range (MPBR).

2. TERMINOLOGY

  • V1 / D1 — measured velocity and its distance from the muzzle.
  • V2 / D2 — calculated velocity and distance; D2 must be greater than D1.
  • BC — coefficient matching the G1, G7, GA/RA4 or GS model.
  • KZ (Kill Zone) — permitted impact zone around the line of sight.
  • KZ IN / KZ OUT — beginning and end of the usable KZ interval.
  • MPBR — farthest range at which the trajectory remains inside the selected KZ.
  • D KZ — specified far Kill Zone boundary.
  • POI — impact position; CLICK — required turret correction.

3. FUNCTIONS

  • V1, D1, BC and D2 — main inputs for calculating V2.
  • MASS, SIGHT HEIGHT, ZERO, MAX. RANGE, STEP and ATMOSPHERE — energy, trajectory, table range and calculation conditions.
  • KZ ON / OFF — enables or hides Kill Zone analysis.
  • KILL ZONE DIAMETER — full permitted zone height; tolerance above and below the line of sight equals half of the diameter.
  • CURRENT ZERO — analyses KZ using the entered ZERO without changing it.
  • AUTO MPBR — selects the trajectory with the greatest range inside the KZ.
  • FIXED D KZ — attempts to place the far KZ boundary at the entered distance.
  • POI CHART — shows KZ limits, KZ IN/OUT and MPBR. V and E charts and the table show velocity, energy, POI and CLICK.
  • TURRET SCALE and CORRECTION DISTANCE — optional single CLICK correction.
  • SAVE / SAVE AS — save a TXT report; LOAD — opens a BC001–BC004 report.

4. EXAMPLE

  1. Select G1 and enter V1 = 920 m/s, D1 = 5 m, BC = 0.250 and D2 = 105 m.
  2. Enter a 4 cm sight height, a 100 m zero and a 500 m maximum range.
  3. Select KZ ON, enter a 10 cm KZ diameter and choose AUTO MPBR.
  4. Read V2, KZ IN, KZ OUT and MPBR, then inspect the POI chart.
  5. Save with SAVE AS; the report can be loaded into RETICLES.

5. NOTES

V2, the main table and CLICK correction remain based on the entered ZERO. AUTO MPBR and FIXED D KZ change the trajectory used for KZ analysis and the POI chart. KZ does not include wind or ammunition dispersion. G1.txt, G7.txt, GA.txt and GS.txt must be stored next to the application. Starting with the BAT launcher is recommended.
