RETICLES - QUICK START

RETICLES.html loads a reticle image and a BC001-BC004 ballistic report, converts POI to MIL/MOA and plots aiming points on the reticle. It works in desktop and mobile browsers, online or offline.

FIRST START - 10 STEPS

  1. Open RETICLES.html in a browser - online or locally.
  2. LOAD RET - load the reticle image (PNG, JPG or SVG).
  3. LOAD BC REP - load a BC001-BC004 ballistic report.
  4. Select FFP or SFP. For SFP, enter the calibration zoom and the current zoom.
  5. Calibrate the scale: MIL/MOA unit, known angular distance, SET CENTER, SET SCALE POINT. Without calibration, points will not appear on the graphic.
  6. Enter the sight parameters: one-click value, sight axis height, mount cant, Shooting Angle, turret-to-muzzle distance.
  7. Set wind (speed and angle) and the distance range - from the report or FROM / TO / STEP.
  8. AUTO SELECT - choose points for the table and reticle automatically, or select them manually in SHOW.
  9. SAVE CFG - save the configuration. On the next start, simply use LOAD CFG.
  10. PDF - print. The check box next to the button selects the full printout or the A4 reticle only.

SHORT WORKFLOW

LOAD RET -> LOAD BC REP -> FFP/SFP + ZOOM -> CALIBRATION -> AUTO SELECT -> SAVE CFG

SCALE CALIBRATION - 5 STEPS

  1. Select „Unlock calibration point editing”.
  2. Select MIL or MOA and enter the known angular distance between the points.
  3. SET CENTER - click the reticle center. This point defines the vertical calibration axis.
  4. SET SCALE POINT - click the second point. Calibration uses the vertical axis only, so the second point is placed on the same axis as the center.
  5. The status changes from [ NONE ] to a value, e.g. [ 94.5 px = 10.7 MOA ]. RESET removes the points.
Scale calibration panel and calibration points 3 and 4 on the reticle.
  1. Select the reticle unit and enter the known angular distance between two grid points.
  2. The “Lock calibration points position” option allows calibration points to remain permanently visible.
  3. The “SET CENTER” button is used to indicate the center of the reticle. This point defines the vertical calibration axis.
  4. The “SET SCALE POINT” button is used to indicate the second point. Calibration is performed only on the vertical axis, and the second point is placed on the same vertical axis as the center.
  5. To remove the points and perform calibration again, use RESET. Reticle calibration aims to link the reticle grid parameters (MOA or MIL) with the graphic pixel values.

PARAMETERS, READOUT AND PRINTING

PARAMETERS TO SET

RETICLE FOCAL PLANE

FFP - the scale is correct at every zoom. SFP - HOLD SFP = (current zoom / calibration zoom) x HOLD CAL.

ONE-CLICK VALUE

mm/100 m or 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 or 1 MOA.

SIGHT AXIS [ CM ]

Distance between the optical sight axis and the bore axis.

MOUNT CANT [ MOA ]

Angle introduced by the mount or rail. Extends the adjustment range.

SHOOTING ANGLE

Barrel-axis angle relative to horizontal, from -89° to +89°.

TURRET-MUZZLE [ CM ]

0-500 cm. Used only to calculate the adjustment range - does not change the ballistic table.

WIND ANGLE

0° headwind · 90° from right · 180° tailwind · 270° from left.

LABEL SIZE

12-36 px, default 18. Reduce it if labels do not fit on the reticle.

RETICLE-SCREEN READOUT

  • H / V PARAMETERS - cursor readout unit: CLK, POI [ cm ] or POI [ mil ] / [ moa ].
  • Hovering over a marker label shows POI in cm and the CLK click count at the sides.
  • SCALE X 1-5 enlarges the on-screen preview only and does not affect results.
  • SET POI - blue cross as an additional reference point; green H/V is measured from it. RESET restores measurement from the center.

PDF PRINTING

CHECK BOX SELECTED

Integrated printout: table, parameters and specification, reticle, charts and parameter glossary.

CHECK BOX CLEARED

Only the enlarged reticle on an A4 sheet.

IN THE PRINT DIALOG

Disable „Headers and footers”. The integrated printout is prepared in landscape orientation.

MOST COMMON MESSAGES

Load the report and calibrate the graphic. The table stays empty until a report is loaded and calibration is completed.

Calibration point editing is locked. Select „Unlock calibration point editing”.

Calibration points are too close together. Place the second point farther from the center.

No free space outside the reticle lines. Hide another point or reduce the label size.

Enter a positive one-click value. Complete the field in the TURRET - ELEVATION section.

Working-mode fields and distance markers plotted on the reticle.
  1. RANGE SELECTION — Range selection from the report table or according to custom parameters.
  2. MARKER SIZE — Label size on the graphic, expressed in px.
  3. VALUE PER ONE CLICK — Value of a single click of the turret adjustment. Example: 1/4 MOA.
  4. SCOPE PARAMETERS — Scope axis, mount cant, Shooting Angle and Turret-muzzle. These parameters affect geometry and adjustment calculations. Turret-muzzle: distance between the center of the UP/DOWN turret and the muzzle. Used exclusively for calculating the adjustment range. Does not affect the ballistic table.
  5. PDF CHECKBOX — Selected: the PDF printout includes the report and charts. Not selected: only the reticle grid is printed in A4 format.
  6. PDF — Starts PDF printing.
